Bios of Staff for McGuire Williams Inc...

Kathleen Huston, President

Kathleen is a dynamic businesswoman, living proof that all math nerds are not geeks.  She earned her degree in Math from Florida State University.  She worked as an accountant upon graduation, but knew she wouldn’t work for someone else for long.  After obtaining her MBA from George Washington University, she founded McGuire Associates on July 1, 1985.  At first it was her and two computers, working out of her bedroom.  She had soon grown the firm, acquiring a number of “associates” and better working quarters.  McGuire Associates was Kathleen’s persona for 22 years and she has a solid reputation within the Washington, DC business and non-profit communities.  In July 2007 Kathleen took on a partner and became President of McGuire Williams Inc.

Angela Williams, Vice President
Angela started with McGuire Associates while working on her accounting degree.  Keeping a number of clients in line while taking classes and raising an active young daughter demonstrated she was a can-do kind of woman.  She received her degree from the University of Phoenix in 2004 and acceded to management.  Such capabilities require commensurate responsibilities.  Angela is now Vice President of McGuire Williams and is looking to establish the firm as a player in the DC accounting scene for a long time.

Marcelo, Associate
Marcelo began working for McGuire Williams, Inc. in February 2009, as an Associate. He has a bookkeeping certificate from IBM Institute (Bolivia), earned in 1980.
Marcelo brings the “client perspective” to his work at McGuire Williams. He’s been doing the accounting for a small firm that his wife owns since 1986. He has lots of experience with what small firms need from their accounting “departments.” He’s learning about bigger firms and other types of businesses (including non-profit). Plus, he brings a totally new dimension to McGuire Williams – we now Habla Espanol.

McGuire Office
Hidden in a non-descript office park in Springfield.  Clark Kent doesn’t walk around wearing that cape all the time, does he?  You don’t have to look flashy to be “super.”  But, our home is very comfortable, and there’s plenty of parking.  Come in.  You’ll be surprised (think Clark IN the phone booth).

McGuire Conference Room
Ready to make decisions.  We’re never going to host the Board of GE, but our conference room is very comfortable for meetings of 8 people.  (And it can handle a few more, but a little less comfortably).  This space also serves as a temporary office for clients when they are away from theirs (or don’t have one) and need a space to work or meet.  (We hold the line at robe-and-slippers, but we are cozy).

McGuire Executive Office

Where the magic happens.  You can’t expect a ‘big cheese’ to work in a small cubby, now, can you?  The executive office continues the “cozy” theme.  We believe in being comfortable and surrounded by attractive surroundings.  We know that we can work anywhere and under any conditions (well, almost) but work is better when you’re comfortable.

Staff Accountant Desk

Making warp speed.  It’s not exactly the bridge of the Starship Enterprise, but it has that feel.  Our workspaces are also pleasant with wood furniture, art, and plants.  What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, and even though the executive office is perhaps a little more “grand,” the conditions for the rest of the staff are not shabby.  But the display screen shows numbers, tables, and forms instead of a rapidly-approaching starscape – except for the occasional lapse to screen saver mode.
